Policy

21+ Age Policy

A minimum age that applies to everyone, every time — no exceptions.

Note that Australia's legal age of majority is 18 — La Sociedad's 21+ minimum is a house standard set above the legal minimum, not a legal requirement, and should be confirmed against any Victorian licensing rules that may apply once venues and events are finalised.

Our minimum age

Everyone who applies for membership, attends an event, rents a venue or studio, or takes part in any La Sociedad activity must be 21 years of age or older. This applies without exception — to members, guests, and anyone accompanying a member or renter.

How we verify age

Age is confirmed as part of the membership application: you provide your date of birth, a verification selfie, and confirm you are 21 or over. This information feeds into our background check process before any application is approved.

Zero tolerance

Misrepresenting your age at any stage — application, event entry, or venue or studio booking — results in immediate removal from La Sociedad and, where appropriate, referral to the relevant authorities.

Guests and renters

Members are responsible for ensuring that any guest they bring, or anyone present during a venue or studio booking, also meets the 21+ requirement. This is treated as seriously as a member's own eligibility.
