Terms of Membership
Last updated 2026. These terms apply to anyone applying for or holding La Sociedad membership, and to anyone attending an event or renting a venue or studio through us.
1. Membership is by application
Membership is not automatic. Every applicant is verified for age and identity, and reviewed as part of a background check, before being approved. La Sociedad may decline or revoke membership at its discretion, including where an applicant does not meet our verification standard or where a member breaches these terms.
2. Age requirement
You must be at least 18 years old to apply for membership or attend any La Sociedad event, venue, or studio booking. Misrepresenting your age during the application process is grounds for immediate and permanent removal from the community.
3. Consent and respect code
All La Sociedad gatherings run on clear, enthusiastic, and ongoing consent between participating adults. Harassment, non-consensual contact, or disregard for another member's boundaries will result in immediate removal and a permanent ban, with no refund.
4. Discretion
Members must not photograph, record, or publicly disclose the identity of other members, guests, or the location of any event or venue without explicit consent. Breach of discretion is grounds for permanent removal.
5. Venue and studio rental
Members renting a venue or studio space are responsible for their guests' conduct, for any damage caused during their booking, and for complying with all house rules communicated at the time of booking. Rental terms, pricing, and cancellation conditions will be confirmed directly at the time of booking.
6. Lawful conduct
Members must comply with all applicable Australian and Victorian law at every event, venue, and studio booking. La Sociedad does not permit unlawful activity of any kind on its premises or at any hosted event.
7. Liability
Attendance at any event, or use of any venue or studio, is at the member's own risk to the extent permitted by law. Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude any right or remedy a consumer has under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
